Shellac and gel polish soak off in about ten minutes for $10. Builder gel and acrylic are filed down and soaked, from $20, also about ten minutes. Add removal when you book a new set so the time is allowed, or book it on its own if you want a break from enhancements.

Why not just peel a set off at home?
Because it takes the top layers of your natural nail with it. Gel and acrylic bond to the nail plate; when you peel or pick, the bond does not fail, the nail does, and you are left with thin, bendy, rough nails that take months to grow out and will not hold the next set well. Professional removal reverses the process the set was built with. Gel polish is buffed to break the top coat and soaked until it lifts clean. Builder gel and acrylic are filed down to a thin layer first, then soaked, so the natural nail underneath is untouched. Ten minutes, $10 for shellac, from $20 for builder gel or acrylic. If you are going straight into a new set, book the removal with it and it is done in the same sitting. If you want to give your nails a rest, book removal alone and add an Essential manicure so they leave shaped and tidy.

Does removal damage the natural nail?
Professional removal does not. The set is filed thin and soaked so it lifts without pulling the nail plate. Damage comes from peeling, picking or ripping a set off at home, which strips layers of the natural nail. If your nails are already thin, mention it and the artist will go gently.
Can I get removal and a new set in one visit?
Yes, and that is the usual way. Add removal when you book your enhancement or manicure and the extra ten minutes is allowed for. The artist removes the old set, preps the natural nail and builds the new one in the same sitting.
How much is removal on its own?
Shellac or gel polish removal is $10. Builder gel or acrylic removal is from $20. Both take about ten minutes. Many people add an Essential manicure, $40, so their natural nails leave shaped, buffed and with a clear coat rather than bare.
